Project Abstract
This project will teach young students how applicable science is to their everyday lives. I will be designing, researching, and creating 14-themed science kits, with 5 kits per theme, so 96 kits in total. The fields of science I plan to teach are: biology, chemistry, anatomy, astronomy, and neuroscience. My goal is to provide a new perspective on science for those who use the kits by opening my users’ eyes to the endless possibilities of learning, like the anatomy of our eyes and how color blindness impacts that, or the solar system and provide an art project with it that can be hung up in the kids’ room after the kit is done. My project understands its audience because the creator (me) was once that audience. The kits are full of labs, art, engineering-based activities, and interesting lessons which all provide an outlet for kids in the lower and middle schools of Severn, and at the Marshall learning center to do.
